INAIA

About INAIA

BACKGROUND

INAIA emerges as a result of the publication, in March 2014, of the document Smart Specialization Strategy for Castilla-La Mancha (RIS3 2014-2020). It stated that there is no center or institute, technological or university, that has among its objectives, directly and primarily, the development of the aeronautical industry in the Castilla-La Mancha region (see p.43).

The identification of the Aeronautical sector as strategic within the RIS3 (see p.76), has been possible because there exist two aeronautical industrial hubs in CLM: Illescas, as a national reference in the manufacturing of parts and subassemblies in carbon fiber, and Albacete, as a national reference in manufacturing, maintenance, and repair of helicopters.

For the development of the Aeronautical sector, RIS3 also clearly identifies that scientific-technological specialization should come from the collaboration between the University of Castilla-La Mancha and the aeronautical cluster. A significant part of this cluster is located in the Castilla-La Mancha region and in the south of Madrid.
